AHOY, new to the forums. easily 200+ hours on Starbound. moderate coding experience (see bit.ly/2g50KnO) willing to make a modding impact (WILL need some training/right equipment) excited to be here, will be watching the forums from time to time. if you need a modder in training, PM/DM me. well, I have taken a look into a small mod (MGU) but, I have very little access to tools that can modify the filetypes. Any ideas where I can find some software to use for modding? (I'm a mac user, so, I can't just open the file in wordpad.)
Hello @Rocket6488 ! I loved Starbound the way it is for years but one I got into modding it only got better. As for tools you only need a text editor (like notepad ++) . There are plenty of guides though to help you get a head start, the one of the forum moderators made this handy book to help here. Correction: I forgot about tiled, this should help you make your own quests and dungeons. (Here)
That is where my issue comes in. I have a perfectly suitable text editor (textwrangler), but it cannot open a .questframework (I THINK that's what it is) among other files with file types besides .patch The idea (syntax) behind writing all of this is very simple though. 2 years of past coding experience help.
