Following this post I tried to make SimpleSprinkler compatible with 0.39. It worked, as far as I can tell (on first run it makes a config.ini) and my simple sprinkler made the circular pattern instead of the + that they do in vanilla. So if you're using 0.39 and want to use simple sprinklers, I've attached the result below. Simply place the contents of the ZIP in your Mods/ folder in your SMAPI stardew folder and it should work. (eg: Mods/SimpleSprinkler/SimpleSprinkler_SMAPI.dll and manifest.json)
I will have an update out today, but yes, it just needs to be placed in a different folder and we must add a manifest.json file. Problem now is, it interferes with Storms method which is bad because you can't easily have both installed anymore. My new build will most likely need SMAPI and Storm installed. its easier that way.
ADoby updated Simple Sprinkler with a new update entry: STORM Removed, SMAPI Updated Read the rest of this update entry...
SMAPI wont load v1.4. You have a different manifest file than the one Hazerofdoom post, which all of 0.39 compatible mods use. Once I replace and edit the manifest file with the one Hazerofdoom made, this mod load normally.
Okay i will take a look, funny it worked for me Version 1.4 updated with a small fix in manifest.json
Does the sprinkler unit always have to be centre of the effective area? I'd love it if I could mod the sprinklers to be as follows: Code: Basic 3×1, loss of 1 tile vs vanilla x o o o Code: Quality 1×8, same as vanilla x o o o o o o o o Code: Iridium 3×8 (=24), same as vanilla x o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o Same effective areas, so no game imbalance. The basic one loses one tile, but offers a much more manageable area over vanilla. It'd be a bummer if it just has to be in the middle. I couldn't think of a layout that had the sprinkler in the middle, but still allowed for areas of 3×3 without overlapping.
The problem is, that I don't want (or can?) change the vanilla pattern, I can only Add to it. So it will always be cheaty, no matter what you do.
Point of my post was to ask if you knew if it was possible, not if you wanted to for your own game. Too bad about only being able to add to it. Any ideas on getting a decent setup with sprinklers, yet get 3×3 blocks?
My logik tells me, if you use mods that make the game easier, its cheating (in some way) So why try to make it "less cheaty". Just use a sprinkler with Range 3 in each direction with box method which should be this: bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb booobooobooobooob booobooobooobooob booobooobooobooob bbbbxbbbbbbbxbbbb booobooobooobooob booobooobooobooob booobooobooobooob bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb Where: o = Plant b = Dirt or any other Floor x = Sprinkler You can walk through that at the bottom and top. If you want to walk through it in the middle, just place the sprinklers on top and bottom.
I find that to be an incredibly narrow understanding of the definition of 'cheat'. Mine's (very simplified) "an unfair advantage". My suggested edit held the same number of tiles, even removing one from the basic sprinkler. There is no profit made there. It is already possible to get 3x3 fields with the standard iridium sprinklers, but it's inefficient. I don't consider my suggestion to have an unfair advantage over vanilla there either. Rather, it is a solution to improve Quality of Life. Thanks for the idea. I'm not sure how I feel about getting that much extra, free, space. Making the path in the middle means using up valuable tiles under the sprinkler's cover. That's counter to what I am trying to achieve. Utilizing those extra tiles would, in turn, mean a much greater chance of getting big crops to grow, which I find too much of a cheat. I was also trying to figure out if I could come up with a nice distribution of effective area under all three sprinklers, so that they could only be used efficiently if combined. A benefit to that would be that all tiers of sprinklers would still be a worthwhile investment. Thanks for your time!
If I set it to use a scarecrow, will the scarecrow still scare off crows? Or is it only a sprinkler now?
Sorry for asking this here, but I was hoping you might be able to give an answer on whether it is possible and if you would consider making it if it is possible. Is it possible to make the Scarecrow range configurable in size and shape like you did with the sprinklers? If so, how difficult would it be to make?
Forgive the newbie question this is my first time messing with a mod like this. I have the default config file SprinklerConfiguration = 599/2,621/3,645/ CalculationMethod = 2 Which values do I adjust to change the size of the sprinkler pattern? And to shape it as a square?
Thanks for your effort with this mod! With the new GUI it is absolutely lovely to configure. It would, however, be even better if the blue parts also can be edited to modify sprinklers completely free. I would like to have somehow conical sprinklers, which I can place at the side of the fields.
