I don't want to have to totally reset my progress everytime that I want to restart the game, but I also don't want the portal to the ruin and NPC's still at the ark, so would it not be simple enough to have a unique universe folder within each character folder? And have a different universe per character? Or take a route similar to terraria where you can have a character selection and a universe selection, so you can mix and match. I just think it's inconvenient for players to delete the universe folder to reset and that it should be fixed.
I agree, I just made a new character for the first time and thought that was a bug. Changing this would also eliminate all of the "is this a bug" searches.
When I did this the first time, it was in the nightly, and I just thought that it was a bug. Now, it really gets on my nerves.
But for any new player who doesn't want to do all that behind the scenes stuff it's really inconvenient and frustrating
