I think that this feature as hilarious as it is, can sort of ruin pretty much a theme for a house (room will be more apropiate to say based on how colony system works), say, a human wants a vending machine in his "house" but I have no space for it in that particular room but have whole big house/city builded around that room in which that vending machine will look spectacular.
then my suggestion would be for tenants to detect quest objets/furniture that is "nearby" so it can be inside or outside the room as long as it is within a certain amount of blocks (something like 30-50 dunno), this will effectively terminate all my problems with quest building a colony

when my tenants ask for something, I either trash the quest depending on what it is, or add it and then complete the quest and then remove it. xD

I don't like furniture quests. The number of times an Apex tenant has asked for an Electricity Disk is far too many. I hate those things, they are noisy and annoying.

Best thing : Room's stuffed, you remove 1 item to place that glitch flagpole and boom, quest failed. So satisfying.

I once had a glitch request a flagpole that in no way could fit and i had to redo their house for it.

    Step-by-step guide:
    1. Place that stuff.
    2. Turn quest in.
    3. Remove stuff.
Same about "I want a friend, build a room with stuff, no I don't care that won't fit your town theme at all" quests. They stop testing for that right after quest is done. Kinda dickish to NPCs, but hey, you need to talk that stuff out with your landlord first.

If there's no space left, you're screwed cu removing a single item beforehand makes the quest fail.

Well, don't take quests of those kind at all, simple as that. I'm not saying that this shouldn't change, I just propose a temporal solution until fix is made.

my one avian vendor villager has an obsession with the cactus decor potted plant. she has like 10 of them in her house... she is like the crazy cactus lady.

Problem is, that they often start with escort or delivery, which always could become different kinds of quests.

So? I just ditch quests that I don't like without any kind of mercy. Yeah, you can't finish this quest anymore, but when you're tasked with cramming some stuff inside room that wasn't made for this kind of crap (WHO EVEN PLACES A FLAGPOLE INDOORS!?) or equivalent stuff (So you say, there is a trader in the depths of dungeon on the other hemisphere whom you want to see personaly? Sorry pal, you're on your own), good riddance I say, there is always more where that came from.

Oh I usually get the stuff and decline the quest so I can keep the object for myself. Unless the object is small then I put in the house to complete the quest then take it down afterwards.

In some cases they request stuff that's small and nice that looks great afterwards and I never would have thought of to add.

In other cases they request a giant freaking bone spike and I have to remove part of the platform floor to place it leaving a permanent bump in the ground.

Wondering how hard it would be to change the script to accept stuff outside the home like someone suggested...

I had an Apex request the giant HD screen in his room and when I put it in I removed the deed on the wall, failing the quest.
