While the planet in the background may have similar ecology climate, I think that was a joke...

 

I expect the real Earth will be in somewhere, probably as a top tier 100 difficulty planet you can visit near "end game".

If earth is visitable, I'd like it to be different than earth today. Like, starbound is set in the past, and there's dinosaurs, but then the humans kill the dinosaurs with a meteor, then they spread their genes and stuff and then... Or maybe starbound is set in the future, maybe earth has been left by the humans, maybe th-waitaminute, wouldn't earth be the human's homeworld? Earth was destroyed by a giant tentacle monster! Well guess earth's gonna be a little different than expected.

But... Wasn't earth destroyed by tentacles, meaning earth would be a tentacle planet rather then how it originally looked?


EDIT: Almost forgot, I'm more interested in the fact that it looks like we can BUILD in space. Hope that's actually in game and not a dev only thing. I would love to build a space station from scratch.

Yup, you can do that! You just have to go up high enough. There was a video or gif or something with a player falling from space.

Also yes, building from scratch in space would be awesome. Hope i could also make asteroids out of titanium and then send them flying towards planets inhabited by humans.
