Modding Help Beginner's Guide to XNB Node and Graphics Editing

Lol I understand I was just starting to eat dinner when the thread blew up and I had to keep reminding myself that I was supposed to be eating.

 

I made the background transparent, yet I'm still experiencing the same problem?

Lol you're fine, that's the purpose of the thread, to help. Did you start with the png from Alex's file and edit from there? Or your file from Paint?

Thanks so much for this! I've managed to edit the blush onto my farmer and it works perfectly

 

Probably something left over from MS Paint's save then. I'd start over with Alex's file and do it on there.

If you even want the specific colors you used for your blush you could always select and copy the blush pixels from Paint and paste them into GIMP

I'm not sure what you use to edit graphics but you may add a picture tutorial of you just changing something's color and reinserting it when you get a chance and add it to main post.

Yeah I probably will, I just really need to drag myself away from this for a few. Also, I've been using GraphicsGale for simple editing, for something like adding blush that's probably what I'd use. Then photoshop for a couple other things. I just don't like using photoshop for everything since it's so feature rich it just gets confusing when all you need to do is change the color of a few pixels lol.

xD sorry, I just assumed since you first posted in that thread. So yeah, not Alex's file then just the original file.
Edit: should of checked for a dress in your pics before I even asked xD my bad.

Take this, add blush, put it next to the .json (or .yaml, whatever)

Code:

xnb_node pack farmer_base.json farmer_base.xnb

Throw it in \Content\Characters\Farmer\
Try it out ingame.

Or you can just give me the .png once you're done editing it and I'll pack it.

Edit: Lastly, GIMP is weird, and to save files. make sure you are using File>Export As..
Save As.. Just wants to save it as a GIMP specific file I believe.

This is exactly what I needed to get past the issue I was having. Thank you so much !!

 

Made some major edits to the post and added a couple links of some great guides on the bottom.

When I have some major free time I'm going to add a visual demonstration of .png editing with GraphicsGale but that's all for now
