so, after finishing plot player is able to terraform planets. but what about new stuff? like: new quest for obtaining gun that is able to shoot test-tube (syringe) and collect blood DNA samples. after obtaining enough samples player will be able to "grow" in cloning vats its very own and unique monster for populating planets? different body parts - different abilities. (maybe someone still remember "Impossible Creatures" game) this is how i see it: player complete quest from scientist outpost (apex/human)* and gets reward: pneumatic rifle/pistol that shots syringe. shoot at animal->animal receive temporary debuff "Syringe injected". player should kill animal while status is active and in case of success he will be rewarded with item "Sample of %MONSTER_NAME% DNA" (not sure should dropping an item 100% or not. Cuz you know: test-tube can be broken/lost/etc. while fighting). This item should have short period of living (like a food spoilage, but shorter). dna sample then inserts into a terminal for analysis. after analysis there will be a menu with info about monster: size torso locomotion (bipedal/quadrupedal/wings) tail special attack ability carnivore/herbivore (agressive/peaceful) element of monster color of monster Habitat (forest/jungle/mutated/etc) One or all or some of properties (depends on somewhat) can be extracted into "data_storage" item. After acquiring all player needed monster parts, player can insert data storage items into cloning terminal and start assembling it's "very own" creature (should take some time). after completing this procedure another data storage item (this one contains digital copy of new monster's DNA) inserts into cloning vats machine (require amount of pixels&resources - depends of somewhat) and magic starts. some time of clonning passed - voila you got alive creature Maybe with not 100% chance of spawn from 1st attempt.
