so you always come across all of these npc villages right? now I'm a generally friendly person, but what about the "Conquer all" gamers out there who want to writ their name in history by burning it into a planet? so here's my suggestion broken up into steps 1: Eliminate all the guards in the town you can then go on to 2a: "Depopulate" the town and then tear down the now vacant building for materials (no further interactions) or 2b: capture the townsfolk and 3a: force them to gather resources for you or anything you want really. or 3b: ransom them for sweet pixels. heck, maybe this can tie into a sort of reputation system of sorts. like maybe you raze hylotl villages then present the spoils, residents, etc. as a gift to the floran. maybe you could hire bandits but be attacked on sight by guards. I realize this probably won't be implemented, but I think it could be a cool mod for the more tyrannical starbounders out there.
It'd definitely be cool to be able to assault villages and pursue the different outcomes that you've listed here! Perhaps you could hire a group of bandits to aid you in attacking the village, and maybe said village has guards that are a lot stronger than usual, warranting this kind of approach? It'd be cool to see different factions also doing this on their own, so you beam down onto a planet and go a little to the left to see that bandits are mid-way through an assault and buildings are burning. You'd have quite a few options, that way! You'd be able to help the bandits, kill the bandits, watch the bandits, leave for a few days and come back to see that the bandits have established their own settlement in the ruins of the previous settlement that they attacked. The ship's computer could also receive bounties on groups of bandits that have sacked settlements on their own, and you get the opportunity to make some chunky pixel stacks if you were to wipe them out. Then again, you could arrive there and the bandits may offer you something far greater, like a high-level weapon merchant, or offer themselves up for hire. A reputation system would be awesome! You could have it trigger random events, such as bandit patrols actually scouring the different sectors in search of a very good character, or have Apex mechs dropped down on the home world of a player that has destroyed many of their settlements? A healthy reputation with a certain race could net the player's character rewards such as periodic pixel or levelled metal ingot gifts, or perhaps new companions, technology, and materials that are only available to those with said healthy reputation with a specific race? That'd definitely make people wary of who they side with!
Hmm that sounds wonderful. It even works great as a mod if anything. Ironically this idea works especially great for those who's race is, violent, militaristic, or just plain bandits...so eventually all. What I think though is to have a good starting reputation with the race you have chosen.
I hate the idea of slaves that you have to command, just makes it seem like people want this to be an RTS (even though RTS are very fun.)
if only more people were as in depth with their comments as you. personally, I don't support it. but as for how it would work it would be more like they harvest a certain amount of resources at a certain time rate and then you just drop in and pick it up. like... clash of clans. maybe.
I love clash of clans! Although the style may be tedious and probally would feel out of place in starbound...
okay, lets dive into the more heroic side of this. you come across a town set ablaze by bandits. dead guards line the streets and the few remaining have barricaded themselves and the townsfolk in the town hall. you approach the bandits who then say. "Pretty bold walking up to us pal, I wonder just how bold you are. they aren't just guarding civies' (term for civilians) in there, but the whole treasury. you take out the last few guards, and we'll give you a nice portion of the loot. you then, A.: punch your weapon through hime before he even finishes the speech. you go on to kill every last bandit there is in the local area. slowly the fearful villagers come out praising your heroics. you can then either accept a reward, (pixels, ingots, etc.) or refuse but gain even more relation with them. B.: agree to help. you march in and kill every last one of the guards and soon after the bandits pour in and seize the townspeople who huddle together in fear. you handed a larch pouch of (designated amount for each sector) pixels. the one from before then says, "so what do you think we should do with them?" you either have them all killed (a few extra pixels from pocket money) have them captured for ransom (increased bandit relation) or leave them be. (slightly decreased bandit relation, slightly increased town relation) or finally, C.: just walk away, letting whatever happens happen. (no effect)
You wanted more features, you GOT them! also I figure the relation system could be equated to mount and blade. a village with 15 relation (on a scale from 1 to 100) would give nicer loot/ cooler quests than a completely neutral village.
If you don't think it has a real chance of being implemented you should probably put it as a mod idea in the mods section and see if someone makes it.
Yep sounds like a choice I would gladly decide upon. Knowing myself I would go on a rampage though...NO SURVIVORS!!! Then again 90% of the time when that happens is usually an accident that somehow aggravates every living thing on the planet on to me.
Yes, report your post and in reason for reporting write that you want it moved, and a mod will move it.
