Character Selection Glitch

I purchased Starbound two days ago for Mac OSX (I know, I know) and at one point while I was playing with two other people the power cord on the computer was nudged and came out. I then turned the computer back on and launched Starbound. Everything was working perfectly until I got to the character selection screen. I selected my character and the game froze and crashed. I restarted it and it happened again. I have made new characters and they work, just not the one with all of my stuff in it.
I have already tried:
- restarted computer
- uninstalled and reinstalled Starbound
- deleting the "Universe" folder
- validating game cache on Steam
