Race Children of the Monolith: The Liberi

It was the original artwork I did before I realized they shouldn't have tails. It was used to show what the creators of Liberi look like according to the Liberi themselves.

 

Ok that makes sense, even without the tails they look like foxes. (I like that they look like foxes)

I apologize for not updating, but well... Had a hard time with my old laptop dying and my new one needing a total system restore after I installed an anti-virus that messed up my drivers. Losing all the data that I had been making. Also effecting my negligence in this region is my upcoming sister's wedding which, while it will be fun, preparing, cleaning, making stuff for it has been hell. I haven't slept in my bed for the past 2 weeks and finally get a break for 4 days before I have to rev up again. Maybe I will have time after September 14 which is the day of the wedding.

Ooh mey gosh! These look amazing! I really wish this was added, I think my cat would approve. The Liberi are some of the cutest races made yet, 10/10, would play again.

 

I will probably stick with the Florans, ut I just had to say: Of course there was a cat race suggestion. This wouldn't be the internet without one.

I absolutely love cats so there is always a soft spot in my heart for any race that is cat but this is one of the few I'd actually like to see in game very well done

 

i think that there might be a few too many games that implement cat people, i would like to see something to set this race apart from other cat people. possibly absurd coloration, extra limbs, quills, wings, horns, antennae. i know how touchy my fiance gets when i say this to her so please don't take it the wrong way, i'm not attacking the idea, id just like it a little more if it weren't the exact same thing i've seen before. all ideas i've seen on here are great but usually i can see ways people could benefit by shooting for the stars. i think cat people is not memorable enough and i'm constantly telling my fiance she can do great things with art, i think you can too and hope you try to take this constructively. (think alien Cheshire cats or winged tiger people or mix two different animals you like.)

 

the problem with extra limbs and such is that it wouldn't work with the sprite base of Starbound. Wings and tails would be present at a few of the official races if certain problems with the armor wouldn't have appeared.
Also Catpeople are usally all the same becasue they are what they are humanoid cats. Our cats don't have 6 limbs so they usally are to be found with 4 in games. In regards of Fur color and markings it depends on the artist to give them their looks. Thoguht it is rather important ti remember the original, natural, reason for coloration or markings. Survival, so if the Liberis hoem world has a lot of neon colored surroundings they most liekly have such colours too.

Also as a Furry im can tell you there are MANY Catpeople out there who look RATHER original ^^

 

agreed, i think all of these things should be taken into account but still think that more can be done with this particular application of the neko style, prehistoric saber-tooth, zebra stripes, glowing bio-luminescent spots, extra eyes. i would like to see a completely original work. this is a space race, this is acceptable for earth, i said nothing when there were apes and birds due to not seeing it often in games and its already a core part of the game so what would be the point, the nova kid is awesome and i cant wait for them, the plant race is ok and i'm seeing plant people more these days, the fish people don't look like fish... there just aquatic so i don't have any gripes. this one seems popular and id like to see what can be done with alien cats, not just domestic cats on two legs. i know that this can be made better and am just encouraging everyone i meet who all have good ideas to push the envelope of creativity and see what they are capable of. i know for me i didn't create exiting things in my D&D campaign until someone said "this is a phantasy setting, but it doesn't feel fantastic enough" so i'm trying to do (in a more positive way) the same thing for others and if i even inspire 1 person out of 100 then i will be happy as hell!
on the other hand i've been stoked to post ideas on other pages to see that they far overcast me when it comes to creativity and i simply cannot compete. this game already has a great community, this pleases me.
also the artists who make races on this site are all fairly talented and its nice to see a strong artist community as well.

I will say one thing though, me and the Liberi? We would not get on... The social construct I mean, prob not the unique individuals. Kind of like the Glitch, I would welcome those who attained free thought, while those that hunt them as defects will find a rather strong argument from the edge of my hand crafted Hylotl sword.

 

I think absurd fur colorations would be fine to have, considering the apex have some pretty weird ones too if I remember right. I could draw some more exotic cat-race illustrations but I'm not the best at making elaborate race concepts up. Perhaps I'll make a thread for generic cat race suggestions rather than a finished one.

Imo apes and birds are a very common older scifi-race (birds esp. appear in that one game called Star control or something, with the ur-quans) I'd have loved for apex to have variation like a mandrill face or something like that...

 

This race needs to be in the game.

unfortunately, according to quite a few users (if anyone has the source id appreciate it) devs aren't accepting anthro races anymore
