Race Clara'an

Sounds good.
I have a reason for why it is default red
The iron used to make the color of the paint put onto the Clara'an is easier to make than any other paint, so highly that it is produced in the largest volume for those that have yet to leave the factory

If I was able to, I would love to help figure a way to make minor alterations to the fingerprint bit (I don't know if you like the analogy of the spinda bit I made or not)

 

no actually, the reason is a bit of "concept data" actually.
I haven't released it in the Short Stories at all, but it will eventually find its way there.
The man who created the Clara'an was a fan of the ancient Earth television series "Starship" (the Starbound parody of Star-trek that I just made up), in which new additions to the "crew" were given red uniforms.
As one of their ways of honoring their creator, the Clara'an made the decision to paint all new Clara'an a shade of "Rookie Red" once they had enough resources.

Also, as the Clara'an are intended to be a playable race- I'm not really looking at "Minor Alterations" to specific patterns, unless I'm making "individuals" intended to be extremely important NPCs, but I will take any pattern under serious consideration, and give it a basic "once-over" with a specified Body Color, and show what it looks like. If it gets a 'good' reaction from at least 2 people, I'll do it in the rest of the body-colors.

The only thing I ask is that anything made be submitted as either a Clara'an sprite with the pattern on the body (found easily on this thread), or a simple Black-pixel outline of the pattern (to be drawn with the pattern contained within), with instructions of where it overlays. Otherwise, just give me a good idea and I'll see what I can do (note :: anything I'll do will likely not come out exactly like you had in mind)

 

There should be a leopard-print pattern. I'd do it myself if I knew how to art, but I don't know how to art.

 

Sounds pretty good. This makes me think maybe instead, just a slight variation, like picking fingerprint gives one of three variations?

Nice. Is using MsPaint an option to make a 'template' for a design?
I think at the end of this week we'll have a very sufficient range of racial markings hehe

 

actually these are all as close to Hair as the Clara'an will ever get (aside from equippable Wigs, which will all no doubt be cutesy Pig Tails).

Also, I have no complaints about any construction engine you use. I myself use Paint.net
as long as the file I recieve is workable, I can use it (although I tend to prefer PNG over JPG files as I've heard of "quality deterioration" or something to that affect originating in JPG images)

 

I didn't really say anything about hair. I figured since they are robots (and after reading the first post) I had a feeling this was going to be the way that players would be distinguishable (aside from color of chassis).

Not sure how I'm going to manage though... do you mind a single-color for the Jaguar-Print or do you want it in "Full Authentic"?

if its fully authentic, there would be no variation allowance in colors.
I'd only be able to give the one pattern over all body-colors.
In effect, It'd be like giving a race a unique hairstyle, but only giving it shocking pink to wear it in.

On the other hand, allowing for all colors...
would result in a mix of what I'd call jaguar paint... but everyone else would say "no, you just splashed paint at them, with no purpose or pattern!"

Like, you're able to choose from red, green, metallic red, jaguar paint, and so on.

no, Jaguar-Print. Not Jaguar-Paint.
Jaguar Paint would be a unique body-color with a unique pattern.
Jaguar-Print would be the spots of a Jaguar.
