Bug/Issue Dark Talisman/Mutant Bug Lair/Krobus Issue

Hi. My son and I had gotten this on the Nintendo Switch awhile ago and progressed in the game pretty far but had an issue after completing the Community Center. As we remember, the cutscene at the railroad and wizard happened and then we went to the sewers to speak to Krobus. Whenever we try (multiple days in a row) Krobus doesn't talk - just goes immediately into his shop. When we try the passage to the left, it is blocked by a forcefield.

We moved onto another game but recently came back to this one and started playing around again with farming and working on additional parts of the game but when we came back to this topic it still isn't working and after looking through all the threads I could find, nothing seems to have helped.

Oh, and when I look at my wallet, there is no dark talisman or magic Ink.

Any clues? I'd like to keep playing but frustrated that this seems to have glitched out.

You could try giving Krobus a gift to force him to talk. Does the Dwarf do the same thing? Sandy?

 

Thanks but unfortunately that didn't help. I can give him gifts and he accepts them and then the dialog box goes and it's just his shop again. I've checked and my community center is definitely completed and I've gone back to the railroad and nothing different. Any ideas would be appreciated.

This isn't going to help, but I'm curious. Is the quest to speak to Krobus in your journal? Also, does the Dwarf speak to you or skip dialog? And what about Sandy?

Unfortunately, we can't upload save files from the Switch, or this would be fixed already.

 

Thanks again. Both Sandy and the Dwarf have dialog with me like any other interaction. Krobus is definitely the odd one out. I currently have no quests in my journal.

Any other suggestions?

So...there *used* to be a very similar bug on the PC version, where Krobus would go completely silent (and throw you straight into the shop) every time the game was loaded.

I believe it was fixed as part of the round of multiplayer-prep updates, but ye olde manual workaround was to not speak to Krobus at all for a day. The following day, his script would reset to normal and you'd be able to speak to him again (until the next time you exited and loaded). Although you may still want to avoid trying to pick the quest up on his usual silent day (Friday); I can't remember off-hand whether this overrides the quest dialogue, but I suspect it may do.

 

Thanks but nothing has seemed to help. I've gone days not talking to Krobus then trying for days in a row. I finally got him to full hearts hoping that might change things but it did not. I noticed that although I had access to the casino, I didn't have the club card in my wallet. I retraced the Qi quests and got the club card showing in my wallet but still nothing. I'm visting the railroad hoping to get that cutscene with the Wizard. I've verified that my community center is completed. My only other hope at this point is that if there is an update to the switch edition that maybe it will jar something loose and it will reset for my son and I. Thanks again for all the suggestions - if someone has any other ideas, we're willing to try them!

 

Did you ever find a fix to this? It’s been a few years since this thread has been active, but I wanted to voice that I have this issue on the switch too I hope an update will fix it
