Bug/Issue Debugging process -> game crashes? (MacBook)

'Developer Tools Access needs to take control of another process for debugging to continue'

This message appears frequently while I'm playing. If I press cancel, the message refuses to go away and reappears instantly. When I do put my password, the cursor starts spinning and the game freezes. This happens in both single and multiplayer - in multiplayer all other farmhands are kicked out of the server. The only way I can close my game is by force-quitting it, or else it loads indefinitely.

I've tried using different internet connections and moving around, but it seems that doesn't have anything to do with it. I've also redownloaded/updated SMAPI, Mono, Steam, all of my mods, and verified the game files. I tried looking at the SMAPI log, but there was nothing out of the ordinary (that I could see). I have about 70 mods, but all of them should be updated.

I'm not sure what prompts this to happen, as it has happened in various in-game locations and I'm not doing anything in particular. I can play normally for a while, but then this message suddenly appears or my game freezes without warning, and I have to force-quit the game. I don't see this message outside of playing the game.

If anyone knows what is going on or can tell me how to fix my game, please let me know!


Edit: I forgot to mention, but I edited the StardewValley SMAPI file a little following the advice here: https://github.com/Pathoschild/SMAPI/issues/598 on how to fix SMAPI breaking Steam controller support. I don't know if this has to do with anything, but I'm putting it here just in case it does.
