Bug/Issue DS4 Controller/Input Mapper issue

I have no idea how to use input mapper. I just switched over after DS4Windows stopped working. Likely because I switched to a bluetooth setup. Input Mapper recognizes my controller fine, as but when I try to run SMAPI it doesn't recognize any controller inputs.
I assumed it was just simply a "run input mapper and play" situation, but no luck. I also tried adding SMAPI to the auto-launch feature, and running it as admin. nothing has worked. am I doing something wrong or is there an issue with my computer? It seems to recognize the device just fine as an Xbox 360 controller.
