Bug/Issue Eating glitch

When I tried to eat a salmonberry and then opened my journal as the berry was performing the eating animation the animation was stopped and the berry was consumed, but I recieved no energy from it. I tried it a few more times with different foods and it seems that at any stage of the eating animation up until you actually see the energy received indicator at the bottom, opening the journal consumes the food and stops the animation but doesn't give the player energy.

 

This glitch also occurs if eating and entering the skull cavern at the same time
