Favorite Race

Hello again everyone!
This is just a friendly reminder, to please keep on topic of 'Favorite race'. If you wish to discuss some law/ logic behind a biome or event, or if debates about races and their ethics begin to get heated, I respectfully ask of you to take these discussions elsewhere. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Just keep that in mind whilst reading others responses, and lets keep this discussion space friendly for all.

Now, for a random excuse to properly return to the topic, one thing I like from the Glitch is that they perfectly fit a Steampunk style if the medieval one is a bit too "outdated" for me. The brass just goes right with them and their ship.

 

My apologies. I'm easy to distract.

For the Topic: Another reason Glitch is my Fav Race is that because I can easily be a 'Glitched in the Head' Offspring of my Parents as a Glitch, I can justify deciding to like the idea of building my Final Base with any Materials from ANY Race I darn feel like, instead of being unable to use non-native Racial Stuff without seeming like a total oddball freak Character. In the Glitch Lore, odd IS normal in addition to the potential of being a 'normal Glitch'... both are Canon & fully fit.

 

Honestly I would ignore the tags if I were you. They're not an indication of who the trash belongs to so much as which race it's most recognizable as being from.

After all, if humanity is only good at ruining planets how did Earth wind up a beautiful trash-free utopia with a freakin' Cherry Blossom Tree in the Terrene Protectorate HQ? If your base of operations is punctuated with a goddamn CHERRY BLOSSOM TREE you are the pinnacle of environmental cleanliness.

 

Heh, a Smokescreen. IRL America Outsources a lot of its crud to Offshore. No stretch of the Imagination to imagine Humans in Starbound Outsourcing their Industry to 'Disposable Planets' far far away from Earth, getting what they want from those Planets, then Carting it back to Earth so Earth gets all the Benefit while those far far away from Human Public Eye Planets get all the Consequences. Insidious.

Just like a cheap magician sleight-of-hand trick while distracting the public eye from what the Corporate Greed doesn't want seen.

I love that the Glitch don't pull this kinda trash, Glitch Rule!

 

Avians and Florans have the best aesthetic, I went with Avians just because I'm a bird nerd.

I mean, I honestly like all the races besides humans? All their encampments and whatnot just seem so boring.
The arcade machines and sofas are cute, but they're so... I dunno. Undifferentiated?

I dunno, all the humans I've met off-world were either hippies or criminals in an over-run penal colony.

I'm pretty sure the "Corporate Greed" iswas Based on Earth dude. The Off-Earth Humans most likely never have a clue what's going on on those poor Poison Planets or those being turned into them.

 

I like florans a lot, but have also begun to like humans because many of them are experiencing all this space travel stuff for the first time, just the like the player when they first start the game, which is rather endearing to me.

Unfortunately after the trauma of reading through the entirety of 1984 in highschool (it was a good book, but also terrifying? Especially at the end) I really feel uneasy around the apex, haha.

 

Then again, the Floran are allies of the Glitch and eat any mammals because food is food. The difference being that the Floran don't run around claiming to have saved the galaxy. Sure, eating other fully sapient beings isn't highly recommended in most star systems, but at least they're humble about it.
And as a side note [that's on the main topic] the lore change spoiled the glitch for me (I mean really, being poisoned by the fact your programming wants you to be poisoned inside and outside the universe?) The Novakids had their naming format changed, meaning no chemistry jokes, meaning I AIN'T HAPPY WITH THAT.
The Hylotl are the first ever aquatic race to perform in water like a landlubber (Praise the Zoras, the true aquatic race)
So, that leaves me still barely hanging onto the Novakids, although I am starting to like the Avians with their airships and crystal technology, two things I find great. Florans might be fun and maybe an Apex or two.
My only character in official release is Copper (oh man, I forgot his last name) a disgruntled Novakid who disliked going on the main storyline and grumbled throughout the entire Erchius facility before ditching Esther entirely. And he's not sorry, he owns his own destiny.

 

Last I remember the Glitch took pity on the Florans & were trying to teach them how to be more Civilized, & the Florans are putting up with it mostly because they tried to eat the Glitch for their Kindness only to realize their Metal Bodies tasted horribad & they abandoned their Glitch Eating Attempts REAL fast.

 

Fenerox.

Yeah they're not playable, but they make up for it by being ridiculously cute in every possible way while also functioning as perfectly good guards. I mean, why have something that's either cute OR capable of brutally destroying aggressive wildlife, when you really need both of those things in your life?

Favorite playable race, though, is Human. I feel like I can...relate to them somehow.

 

I give you a Like because I agree the Fenerox are cool... ("Battle won! Fenerox strong! Victory time!") then I take the Like away cause we will have to agree to disagree on our position on the worthiness of Humans.

 

Please stop.

 

Honestly, if you're going to make a serious space game of any sort, you kinda need to include humans.

I mean if every single race in the game is unfamiliar, the whole experience can end up feeling just a tad bit...alienating.

 

Apex are the least fav'd? That's my go to. Best lore too.

 

Glitch and Apex, but Glitch is top. Medieval robo-knights for the win.

Ssshhh, don't make me rethink how cool your aesthetic and neat colors are!

Besides, we're extremely salty in flavor and made up of 80% liquid squid ink, and our flesh has the consistency of melting jell-o.
Not good raw or cooked, let me assure you!

(... I can agree on how delicious sushi can be, though. Mmmm.)

Also, that is kinda weird that Apex are the least loved, when their lore is really neat? They're ape-people with a ton of internal conflict and and a schism in their society, that's cool stuff.
They're usually pretty friendly, too, so that's always a plus.

 

Not to mention all the cool Apex Lightning Stuff, especially Electrical Barriers & Plasma Discs.
