Bug/Issue Finding double geodes even without excavator perk?

I'm not sure if this is just me or maybe even an intended thing or not, but after I picked the "Geologist" perk at mining level 5, I've been finding geodes in pairs more often than not (might be all the time, I'm a bit unsure since fishing sometimes puts me on odd numbers). I thought this would only happen if you picked the "Excavator" perk at mining level 10? I mean I'm not complaining, but if it's already happening then I don't really know if picking "Excavator" once I get there is really worth it.

I'm at mining level 5 right now, and while I'm not sure if it might be relevant somehow, I also picked the "Gatherer" perk for foraging.
