I think it would be cool to have an ore that was less dense than air, so you could make a floating island without having to have a background or an adjacent block to place the floating block

Someone has been watching Avatar lol interesting but if it was less dense then air it wouldn't make a good metal.

It could mostly be good for building, not as a metal

    I imagined something beyond.
How about ores that once you destroys it, it dettaches from the other blocks and floats about until you mine it again. In certain planets you can find big chunks of these ores floating even on the outside.

That would be cool, I would love to see chunks of the floating ore, it would be cool to land on a planet and see chunks of it floating

this seems like a really interesting idea, would this mean (after mining) it could be incorporated into your armor or mechs or ships to make them lighter?

it could be cool to be able to do that, or if you could put it into armor, and jump higher (that would be helpful on planets with higher gravity)

i wonder how floating ore would react higher up in the gravity field of a planet? could you attach things to raw lumps and send it up to your ship in orbit?

it wouldn't float straight up until it disappears, wherever you would place it, it would stay in that spot, and you wouldn't need a background to be able to place it there.

well if you attached it to the ground yeah, but if you put loads in a storage thing it should go up in the air
