NPC Friendly NPC Companion

    A half-hour ago I start to think about new type of NPC which would fit well into the game. What about companion NPC that can join to you in your journey?
    Example: on one of the planets, player can find the small house with NPC. You can talk with him, and he asks to take him with you, because his soul yearns for adventure. Also companion NPC can be found in any peace settlement or randomly generated on Outpost.
    What companion can do? He can
    - fight on your side with his own or gifted weapon/armor (he has his own small inventory)
    - defend other NPC from mobs
    - can break blocks and place new to cross obstacles (mountains, lava/poison laces, pits) with own matter manipulator
    - collect items from chests
    - collect ores
    - heal himself with bandages, medpacks, etc
    - use stimpacks or buffing food
    - talk about all what he see (obstacles, monsters, settlements, other npc, etc
    - if companion heavenly injured and cant heal himself he ran away and hiding in houses
    Player can
    - leave NPC on ship, in the house or settlement asking to guard "this" place
    - expel him from the group and them NPC will go to his own house or will stay in the settlement
    - give him items like weapon, armor, clothes, healing items, blocks
    etc
    In order to make it all work, developers need to add many features into the game.

    Amusingly, that was an idea I also had to some level.

    Basically, a "Crew Quarter" equivalent to the current "Monsters Lab" where you could store on your ship friendly NPCs that you would have recruited in different places(as mission rewards, or recruited from "hiring agency" at various NPC villages). When "inactive" they would wander different room of your ship with their own dialogues like villagers do, and you might have

    But I was picturing the idea of a new "Ship interface" which you could access like the "teleport back to ship" function when on the surface of planets to teleport in such NPC crew to follow you or guard a specific area or just "beam in" as additional support against monsters for them to "beam back" to your ship when the threat is over or something of the like.

    Later with vehicles(and a "vehicle bay" on your ship) it could let you beam-in vehicles either for your own use, or already with an NPC onboard to support you.
