RELEASED Genderswapped Bachelors v1.5: just kidding about the names

Alex, Sam, Sabrina, Harriet and Ellie​

This changes all five characters' portraits and sprites, including flower dance dresses and wedding dresses! It also changes most, though not all, of the dialogue referencing these characters as male. (Some lines, such as Sam's "I'm a healthy boy" when she visits the doctor, are hardcoded and not so easily fixed. I apologize. Still, if you find an error, please let me know!)

This mod does not currently change the characters' names. I've been busting my chops over this for some time and it is very complicated. See this post for more info.

As an XNB mod, this mod is not easily compatible with others that change dialogue. If you'd like compatibility with some other mod, just let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Both hairstyles are now included in both downloads so you can easily switch between them! In the Content/Portraits folder, you should find an extra .xnb file called Sam_long or Sam_short, depending on your version. To change, simply rename your current Sam.xnb to something else, and then rename Sam_long.xnb or Sam_short.xnb to just Sam.xnb.


Installation:

1. Navigate to your Stardew Valley directory (eg, C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Stardew Valley (sorry GoG folks)).
   
2. Back up the Content/Portraits, Content/Characters, and Content/Data folders, or just the relevant files -- or, heck, back up the whole thing.
   
3. Extract GenderswappedBachelors_2.0 to the Stardew Valley folder. It will ask you if you want to overwrite files; say yes to all.

- Fixed a file to make the game understand characters as female. Only works on a new game (unless you edit your save; remind me to make a guide for that)

- Added a couple of dialogue changes I missed last time

- Added per-character marriage dialogue replacements (1.06 update)

- Removed Ellie's lipstick on her sprite

- Made Sabrina and Ellie shorter
- Adjusted the shading on Ellie's portrait to be more in line with the other characters, and made her closed-eye expression look happier
- Added dialogue changes!
- Finished reworking some of Sam, Alex, and Ellie's sprites (oops)
- Added flower dance dresses and wedding dresses for everybody, yay~

I thought Sam is supposed to be teenager, female counterpart looks way older.

Ellie also looks weird and very different from other three.

Sabrina and Alex are really good though.

All in all this is a great mod! Sebastian/Sabrina is my favorite

 

Sam appears to be short a few animations. Sam currently flips between the male/female sprites while at the pool table on Friday nights. Slightly entertaining to watch.

All the marriable are meant to be early to mid 20s since it's XX(20) years since your grandpa died and things like leah leaving her apartment with her boyfriend to live on her own suggest ages from like 20-25.

No problem! I'm assuming you're not using the dialogue files -- I don't recall Alex needing too many dialogue changes, but if you spot any inconsistencies I'd be happy to alter those files for you, just let me know!

 

I did put in the one that's called Alex. And she did refer to herself as female once, that pleased me!

 

Actually, try Alex, Evelyn, George and Haley. You should be good with just those, without them affecting anyone else.

At long last, my Stardew universe is once again in proper balance, i.e. surrounded by chicks with no competition. Great work on these sprites and portraits. It'll just be hard unseeing the bachelors...
