Getting stuck after the Bird fight in Episode 3

I fought the big bad birds near the start of chapter 3, and watched the cutscene.
John keeps walking up and down without me controlling him, and it wont let me do anything except pause.
Going back to an earlier save in the town didn't work, I tried and just got stuck in the same place

Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know how I can fix it?

I finally figured out it only happens when i use a controller. So i guess using a keyboard fixes that problem
