Closed "GraphicsException" Black Screen Error (Can't launch the game)

I'm gonna try and get a screenshot if I can, but at the moment, when I try and play the game (by hitting Launch Starbound, or by hitting Launch Starbound Open GL) the game pops up like it's loading, but the Chucklefish logo never shows up, and then I get an error (GraphicsException: Could not create a HAL device... etc.)

The game was working fine before the latest update, but now this happens whenever I try and launch the game! I tried the few fixes I've heard about (like running in admin mode, making sure compatibility mode isn't on, etc) but nothing has worked...
Help please?

Yeah it doesn't seem to work for me. Damn, I got my hopes up too!

I really think that the devs should worry a bit less about balancing issues atm and get to fixing the game to where everyone can actually play it. Balance seems kinda pointless when people can't even play lol. But maybe they are, who knows...

But thanks for the help anyhow. Hopefully someone will figure something out or the devs will try and fix it.

 

Well your problem is still as swift put it in that post, It is a development issue with starbound being unable to talk your your DirectX correctly to create the HAL.
(programming isn't my forte so sadly I know very little on how this works exactly)

It was working before though. Have you Verified your integrity of your game cache?

 

Right right, I just don't quite understand why it worked before and now it doesn't. I mean I obviously know that it's a bug lol, but I figured they'd be trying to fix this since it's been occurring pretty regularly since the beta's release. But instead it feels like they're focusing on balancing and stuff (esp since it was happening before the patch, and now it's happening after, I mean hell, look at the Changelogs) Idk. I guess I'm just a bit frustrated since I haven't been able to play at all since that patch, and it doesn't feel like any rescue is on the way. Hopefully someone figures something out!

Click right on the desktop, Screen Resolution, Advanced Settings, Troubleshoot- Change settings. Here you can active Direct3D Acceleration and I hope you can fix your problem. If the button "Change settings" it's not available you must install your VGA drivers.

 

What do I do if my VGA drivers are installed/current and it's still greyed out?
