    Changes:
    • This update includes changes to how save games are stored. Please read the notes below for more information.
    • Updated OS X launcher to check for the OS version. For systems running OS X 10.6.8 or earlier the game will ignore the bundled Java runtime, but use the system's Java runtime instead.
    Bug fixes:
    • Enemies now don't move first anymore in first part of prison sector, and in 6th optional mission.
    • Made 6th optional mission a little easier overall.
    • Updated Windows launcher to not require the Visual Studio 2010 Runtime DLLs installed.
    • Fixed rare crash related to inventory management and ammunition items.
    • Fixed crash on startup on systems with very restrictive anti-virus isolation settings.
    About the save game changes:

Local saves are now written to the user directory (c:\Users\{name}\.halfway on Windows, /Users/{name}/.halfway on OS X, /home/{name}/.halfway on Linux), which resolves the issue users of the download version had to deal with when updating their version via the Humble Store download.

The Steam version of the game now reads from and writes to both the Steam Cloud and the local user directory. Versioning information are included to make sure that always the most recent save game is used. This means that you now have the option to mix playing via Steam and 'offline' (by starting ./Halfway[.exe] or halfway-desktop.jar directly) without loosing any progress - the game will pick the most recent save at the next start. Please note that this doesn't include Steam stats & achievements - those require you playing via Steam.

For the download version, the now deprecated storage in the game folder is used as a read-only fallback. This means that, on the first start after this update, it will correctly read your current save game from the game folder, if you've not been running the Steam version before.

The system has been prepared to support multiple save slots, a feature to be added with the upcoming modding support.
