Hi, I am a long time fan of Starbound and I would like to translate the game to my native language. Homewer.... I am not very sure how. Usually when I was translating games I was a part of a team but now I am working solo so... I would like to ask from where and how to extract the texts etc. Thank you for your kind answers!
I suggest starting with my tutorial video. It is not specific to translation, but more on general modding. This will give you a good idea on how to do translations though - once you complete the full video. ^to expand, you'll need to patch each and every files that contain dialogs with your translated version; most of the NPC ones are available in /dialog/, but they're basically scattered a bit everywhere. You might want to look at how other translation mods did it
Using a grep utility might help you with finding most of the files you will need to mod. It's native to linux and Mac OX and there are a bunch of Windows equivalents. Also, Notepad++ and Sublime have functionalities for that.
