As far as I know for the current plans for space travel, space travel takes place on a star map, which is fine for people who want to travel quickly. For a toggleable option, perhaps there could be a "Hyperspace mode" where you would see a pretty animation of aforementioned hyperspace and fitting space traveling music (similar to Star Control 2). The time this animation taks depends on how long a journey is from Planet A to B. You would be able to see any planets or stars that you come into close proximity of. Perhaps random events could be seen, like comets. Though, I really just want a hyperspace for some awesome music.
