I'm no good at relationship stuff either, but by the looks of things, I'd say take things cautiously. Hold off on sending the friend request for now, and see how things turn out. I'd say that'd be your best bet, rather than hastily sending it off.
Ok, I was actually afraid to miss the opportunity of getting to know him so I did send him that friend request. The conversation is also still going on even though I sent him the paper so in the end I guess it's all good I'll just try to keep a reasonable distance and wait to see if he'll come and talk to me if you we ever have some classes in common again this winter.
