Modding Discussion I need some help...

I'm new to modding and I need some help.

My mod is a race mod and it does show up in game but every time I open the crafting menu in admin it instantly crashes. I was wondering if any one could look at it and find what is causing the crash, sadly I cannot find the crash reports for starbound so I couldn't look and see if the problem was present there.

I'll post the mod for those who request me to post it, Their story isn't yet complete.

The major error is that the item "flagsktest" does not exist. Amongst that, are several other items that are not defined as well, but that one is throwing that specific error.

They may exist, but check you naming throughout the mod. You have to make sure the name in the armor files is the same as in the recipes, as referred in the .species (for starter clothes), etc...

The error is mostly like that sort of problem. If it changes one place, it has to change everywhere.

I get the feeling this is your first problem. You have two mods with the same name("Skittles Basic Race Template"). The first thing you should do now is change the metadata to reflect your mod.
Your .species is broken.
Your recipes are broken.
Your player.config.patch is broken.
I think that's it; I managed to get the mod working myself, so if you can't figure out what's wrong, I can give you some more descriptive hints.

 

The euryo mod isn't installed when I test it, I didn't make a character with the Euryo mod. I don't know why it is reading it.

 

In this situation, it doesn't matter if that mod is installed or not. you STILL need to edit your metadata, because your mod is not Skittles Basic Race Template.

As a general rule the VERY FIRST thing anyone should do when they make a mod of any kind is properly create their metadata, because that's the core of what identifies your mod and decides how your mod is loaded.

I updated the drive file, it's still doesn't work, it's still trying to load the original items with the names they had before I had renamed everything.

Ok this, if it's a problem you still have:

is a result of a character you have made having items that no longer exists in the code, such as sktestsword.
The easiest way to fix this is by deleting that character, which I bet doesn't even show up because:
You have a problem with your codexes in player/config.patch. You need to change "/defaultCodexes/lunaridiary" to "/defaultCodexes/lunari".

 

but the codex's item name is lunaridiary, any way the game loaded with no problems.
