Closed "incorrect leaf block signature"

Can't run the server, can't play single player, hangs up and crashes shortly after choosing character or shortly after starting the server with the following error.





Already tried verifying files through steam, they checked out fine there, will try re-downloading the game shortly.

Edit: re-downloaded and reinstalled completely, no change. It's still happening at the same point.

 

I have similar issues when trying to run Starbound.
The game worked yesterday but today no go.
I tried deleting it, wiping the universe and player folders, reinstalled DirectX, and updated the videocard drivers.

When running normally I get the errror (StarboundError.jpg)

When running in OpenGL I get the error (Starbound_OpenGL.jpg)

Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit
GeForce GTX 570 (should support OpenGL 4 according to Nvidia)
16GB RAM
Intel i7 quad core processor

This computer should far exceed the specs required for this game and was working quite well running OpenGL last week before the update. After the update OpenGL didn't work but running it reguarly did. Then today nothing works.

I have no mods installed and am starting from a completely fresh install of Starbound.

 

I get a similar error using OpenGL as well.

I suppose i should add my specs too.

Windows 7 ultimate, 64-bit
AMD radeon HD 7950
32GB RAM
AMD FX-8350 Vishera eight-core processor.

I was also running a server for friends just last night with everything running smoothly for them and myself (putting aside minor internet lag).

Only today did this start.

 

After searching with better keywords (wish i had done this more thoroughly before), i discovered the fix for the problem of "Incorrect Leaf Block Signature".

It took searching for "leaf block" only, and allowing the entire forum rather than looking for thread titles.

Bartwe was replying with "Broken save files please delete player/ and universe/ folders" So i backed them up, then I added back characters only and everything worked fine (with quests undone and all the worlds became new again), then started adding files form the universe folder back in a few at a time before i got annoyed and skipped the rest as they didn't matter (unimportant early planets and such).

I hope this helps fix some others who end up having this problem. I know i hate searching online for any kind of crash problems or even virus fixes only to find they either just stop posting with no fix, or reply "fixed it, thanks" and no fix stated.
