I was wondering if it is possible to create an effect that lasts on a person indefinitely until death or until using a counter cure to revert it. Just thinking it would make a interesting game mechanic if you were to get poisoned, the effect wouldn't die out until the player got an antidote. Just wondering if it is doable and if so I'd love to try it myself.
You can create persistent status effects. However, these don't work properly for all NPCs, especially crew members. Alternatively, it may not technically be "infinite", but if you set the default duration of an effect to 2 billion seconds, I guarantee that no one is going to wait around for the 63 years for the effect to expire.
