awesome keeping myself busy here, what kind of assets would be needed for a smaller body? Maybe we could gather a team and somehow have fun drunken discussions that eventually lead to horrible friendship ending fights and swear to never talk to each other again, but in the morning we receive each others hung over tear filled apologies! We'd be like a REAL DEV TEAM. Seriously though, would be nice to have more people and better open communications rather than forum based communication. (I mean I love the forums and all, but... not as conducive to a development/modding process) Maybe even use something like mindmiester. Was very helpful during development of games.
Oh right, I will also try to finish a very basic cloth top/bottom. I don't tink girlbolds need to cover anything do they? It's not like the Kobolds even have any clue what comes after nose rubs. My only problem is mostly not being sure how to do frames for said animations. Going to check the resources available here. Things I would like to see: Some sort of door that opens up, and smashes whatever is on the other side (except players) Catsplosions. Projectile Fluffywamblrs or however you spell them. (maybe have one on a stick as a mace)
I'm honestly not sure what kind of stuff would be needed to make a smaller body. It seems like while it would be really cool, it may make it so that every object and armor would have to be rebuilt from the ground up. Which, while theoretically fun-filled and time-consuming (because I'm really enjoying doing this stuff), sounds like it may also be terrible nightmare fuel for productivity of other life things. I'd love to get as many people involved as would be interested! Yeah, the forum doesn't exactly do to well for more in depth conversation. I've never played around with mindmiester, but I'm willing to give it a try! I'll go ahead and create a sign up for it and start goofing around. It seems as though the game freaks out a little bit if you try to not have at least one starter piece of clothing for both pants and shirts. At the moment, I'm editing the existing floran loincloth and putting that as an option. Everything after getting a shirt of some kind (I'm going to make a 0 cold-protection necklace) is pretty much a matter of what you or I feel like making! I'm not terribly set on getting anything specific worked out ASAP. I'm especially behind the idea of the fluffywambler-stick. I feel like that would be something that is just barely outside of my coding ability right now (which is perfect. I'm getting scaffolding project to project!) Just looked at mind-meister and that looks as though it's a paid service, which I'm feeling like may be a bit much for a little mod! Again, no pressure to get anything specific (or even anything at all) done. It'll come together as it comes together!
Final post of the night! We've now got grey, black, and white kobolds. The white kobolds kind of look like crap, so I'm going to redo them. They mostly just look kind of washed out. I've given kobolds access to what is essentially a copy of the floran loin cloth as starting gear along with a tooth necklace that I sprited quickly. It's not a perfect look, but it's a start certainly! I'm not certain what it looks like in action (this computer...) but it may be fine as is. I'll take a look at converting the ragged pants BL made as well tomorrow, in all likelihood, though I do have a Christmas party I'll be attending at some point. I realized a major issue before release: The emotes are human ones. This means that kobolds occasionally get weird, human faces superimposed on their current faces. Not exceptionally good! So that will have to happen before release. On the plus side, that means more time for anything else last minute we want to throw in there! Look at that handsome devil! What other colors do you think would be good ones for kobolds?
I actually think the one thing kobolds should have on them is (if there is a way to add a base stat) the ability to stay fairly stable under any climate except space.. Like the little buggers live in damp dark caves and stay warm because of their fur or are cold blooded (of course ours are the fuzzy kind). Would be interesting having a race with nearly no need for clothes but with extremely primitive armor (Sorta like how I remember mine from KC) but I guess mileage may vary. Of course, the shorter bodies would need everything re-animated, including the weapons. Sadly, might be too much trouble. However, I think bolds generally would not be able to wear clothes too big for them, it's like trying to give the poor little guys armor and weapons made for a human (As I remember it,the could wear dwarf sized but not human sized armor) I think it would also add to the challenge of playing a kobold . But I guess that would mean the mod would have to be split into Kobold Mode or Visuals Only versions.
Well free for us , they give you unlimited projects and only one person needs to be subscribed. That being said I might still be subscribed. Edit: Well maybe not free free but why not use things that's already been paid for.
I'm not sure if there is a way to add base stats on things yet. I lowered the temperature protection on those items largely because they likely wouldn't be all that warm! If I can figure out a way to do base stats elegantly, it could work out nicely. I'm feeling a little bit torn on the whole shorter-kobolds thing. On the one hand, that would be amazing. On the other hand, the amount of work needed seems like it would be pretty crazy (and possibly would mean absolutely no item sharing). From a lore perspective, it absolutely makes sense that kobolds would't be able to wear bigger armors and use bigger weapons, but from a gameplay perspective it's a bit of a mixed bag. On the one hand, not be able to use things from other races REALLY lowers the amount of options available. On the other hand, being able to use fancy, powerful things kind of defeats the point of kobolding (though if you played in hardcore mode, then it may instead just be an awesome drop that makes things easier... for a time.)
No item sharing might be acceptable, or we just make some filler art for ALL the armor and such. or perhaps make anything they wear turn int torn rags.
That could potentially work. I'll take a look at whether items can have that kind of differentiation when I get home tonight.
I mean we (most likely I) would have to re-animate, but that wouldn't be that bad, I suppose it might make the jump be a bit odd. But hey, if we do smaller bodies, we can make it a resource provided for others provided they credit. That would help create variety as well.
Of course you can animate them if you want to animate them . I did also just realized this would mean we'd have to do all the recoloring to. Still poking at the templates.. not sure if I have to actually animate EACH outfit
-golf clap- I'll try to get some better clothes done, I'll upload them as BMPs to the drive whenever I can. Edit: Kind of an embarassing question, working on a female, should we make their chest the same size as other races or should we make them smaller also.. ahem does she need a bra?, might need to rework ear textures so they don't cover eyelashes for male and female prettybold
This hunter bold will boldly bold where no kobold has ever been bold enough to go. What are you doing hunter bold, you're supposed to scavenge not hunt.
Realistically, we could just say they are yet another glitch uplifted race.. Since the glitch have this weird thing for raising up other races. With advancement of the medicine and food they could probably have grown bigger. The glitch didn't teach them how to be sexually responsible though, they feared teaching that them will lead them to actually learning how to reproduce willingly.. Now that would be a problem.
So I ended up getting in stupidly late last night and didn't get a chance to check on the things I intended. I think animating new, shorter creatures is probably beyond my spriting abilities. It could be a very cool possibility, definitely worth looking into the possibility of. No hurry at all! I'm actually unable to do work today and tonight, unexpected obligation. The question of chest size was one I was struggling with a bit as well. Currently they just have a basically human body and I threw the bra on the females. It seems to me that things are probably easier if we keep their breasts for both differentiation and the whole sharing items thing. This also isn't something I can't remember for the life of me what kinds of clothes they have worn in the cutebold comics. That facial feature is freaking awesome. Perfect for bold warrior bolds. That is quite true, Tathar. I wonder if we could figure out slightly shorter npkobolds or if that would be too much work. Glitches always trying to keep the bolds down...
Also, I have an additional quest written up that is exclusively kobold. It is partially going to depend upon the gathering table (or barrel or something) which will also be important for the fluffywambler on a stick, the spider-flinger, and (hopefully) poisons further down the road.
"Saddened, Even after monthes of schooling, the depth of their romance appears to be.. rubbing noses. Fearful. I hope they will still manage to keep their population on the rise. Jealous. Looking at their enjoyment makes me wish I had a nose" If towns work, we should add in a random NPC that was there teaching the 'bolds maybe. Lol. "Bigape is going to KILL me for losing that ship" "Sorrow. The ship was replacable, the Kobold was not." "Floran sssad friend sssteal ship." etc etc but the females were wearing a leather/cloth top. Sometimes drawn like a tank top other times just a strap thing.
As long as they don't THROW the fluffywambler things stall not be too OP. What are these little guys made of? (I take you read that log where someone killed a colossus with a desperation lob of a fluffywambler) Priority: Codex 1048 Edit: looking up how to make grenades now, I had an idea for a Molotov like weapon that when detonated, creates fire with C's as particles making meowing sounds. Just keep them away from your kobolds because cats have freaking brain control powers.
