Modding Discussion Kobold Race

This is an amazing idea. I'd love to help out, but I'm working on another race mod at the moment.

Haha! I love the statements from the races. All kind of confused and saddened by the odd kobold behavior.

Oh no, throwing fluffywamblers is way too dangerous. I'm thinking the fluffywamblers will be caught by putting a net into a gathering table and then crafted into warm, fluffy armor (I'm picturing the kobolds looking like colorful sheep) and a fluffywambler club which is awful.

I love all the crazy DF stories. The cataplosion sounds hilarious. Perhaps an easter egg?

@Holgast & darkcaster, thanks! I'm glad to hear people are interested! I'm still out of town much of the day tomorrow, but my hope is that I can get the first playable version up by 24 hours from now. It'll likely be short on customization options, but it should be runnable and koboldier than any other options!

From there I'm thinking I'll try to roll out improved versions whenever there is appreciable new content. I'll be sure that logs note when more important updates come.

 

P.S. What fur and warpaint colors would you like? I'll be adding more before alpha 1.

Seriously, though, this is all sounding awesome, and I can't wait to see it all up and running - I'd love to help, but I can't really devote any time right now (I will keep an eye on this, and stick my oar in if I have anything useful to add though )

 

I'm tempted to see if I can transcribe Simon Swerwer's "Koganusan" to ABC, but I don't think sheet music is available for that one.

 

Suddenly interest!

Lets make a list, I'm home in three days, meaning access to more professional equipment. Also, I'll be loading parts onto the drive, I fell asleep for so long I forgot about it. Maybe we should establish communications so you can prod me and keep me on task.

I wouldn't want this to become a chore for anyone at all! Going to be home and working fairly soon, I think, maybe another hour or 2.

 

Alright, I'm back in business and getting some modding done! I'm trying to get the first round of the mod released tonight with as much content as I can squeeze into it. I don't have a set stop time, but I know that I don't want to release until emotes are fixed. Currently, they are just too damned scary to see the light of day.

If there is anyone who really would like to play with kobolds tonight, let me know! I can always do a sneak-peek download on this thread pre actual release.

I'm planning on keeping this thread open while I work (there'll be a break at some point to eat something) as well as a temporary IRC over at http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=##starboundkobolds. If you'd like to do any instantaneous response style chatting, feel free to send a buzz over there!

 

Emotes are finished (but untested given computer issues) which means technically that I can release this at any time according to what I said I needed to get done before it was ready.

However, I'm seeing some issues in terms of colors and getting things to not look sucky and I'd really like to implement a couple of features. That said, if you'd like the file now just ask and I'll get it uploaded with the understanding that I'm going to be doing another upload later tonight!

I hit a little bit of sudden RL that slowed me down, so I'm thinking that (as soon as I fix up a tiiiny thing or two with the black color scheme) I'll go ahead and upload a copy.

This is, as mentioned, a very alpha file, but it SHOULD let you be a kobold!

 

Also: Any names suggested within the next 10 minutes will be in the alpha build! Last names are built off of two sets of names, so feel free to suggest for one or the other.

First Names: Generic stretches of characters
Last Names: Descriptive-Nouns.

Ex: Jreengus Fierce-Claw
