Race Lycanthropes-A Wolf Race (Playable)

I wonder if it would be a good idea to just generally make it a canid race altogether? I dunno really.

 

I agree, there really isn't much to work off of here.
I always prefer to just call it canids as well. Especially with games, that way you get free reigns with design over the canidae family.

 

No, Lycanthrope refers to were-creatures in general, not only were-wolves.
Though we will be changing the name.

 

What is it with the Warrior Canid trope anyway? I see it all too often and could cite 5 examples off the top of my head. Following canine behavior, wouldn't they have a more pack-like society?

Apparently tails has left the forums or something like that, so I've been thinking of making a pacifist wolf race...

 

My lore ideas would be;
The canid is between neutral and the police race of the universe, basically bumping their noses and sniffing into everyone's business and affairs; white knighting/policing all the time. Could say they are very pack-centric so they don't particularly have their own culture with all the issues they have worked in between. Whoever they are attached to or whatever they strongly believe, they like to protect and follow with 100% loyalty, making them great guardians but terrible relations with whoever they come in between. They may or may not be extremely irrational because of this, desiring boundless vengeance towards anything that effects them negatively; death, loss/etc. Could say they lack trust in most of the races due to war and conflict in the past. On the other hand, they are happy companions if you're on their side. :B The uppers in charge of everything happen to take advantage of these strengths and weaknesses, using their fears and anger for their greedy purposes such as gaining resources from war/etc. It's a theme to work with and it actually matches their stereotypical instincts and behavior in stories and animal traits. As 'agressive' as they may seem, they are a very neutral race and usually want to take no part in trade or conflicts with other races, could say they are kind of xenophobes. I'd say they are between chaotic neutral or chaotic order. They often isolate themselves from the rest unless duty calls and they have a bad habit of talking behind everyone's back and trying to tell others what they should and/or shouldn't do. Basically they have big mouths for what little action they take. They like to serve as bounty hunters, police, military, or guardians despite their inability to get along with others that aren't in their circle of trust. They often preach that peace is in their best interest for all and that they can protect everyone, but in fact it's just their fear of being blamed for any sort of major conflicts disturbing the peace as they were blamed before due to vengeance they sought in the past. They tend to show no emotion or interest despite wanting to be in the front lines of law enforcement and protection. The canid have seperate smaller factions and tribes, making relationships between races difficult to differentiate between, often making social interaction with them awkward or off putting.

They arent werewolves.

The amount of work you put into something that's not going to be used is astounding. Adding more text and pictures isn't going to magically let your idea cross some threshold required for the dev team to take notice. They're doing their own races in their own universe and Lycans just aren't part of the plan.

Just make a lycan mod when the game comes out.

 

Well, this is a suggestion thread.
It's kind of the point, to make a suggestion, put a lot of work into it, fix up problems people have, and hope it gets in.
Personally, I don't think it will get in, they already have several animal-based races, but I still work on it because it's fun. I enjoy the brainstorming, sketching and writing.
