Bug/Issue make_versioned_json or dump_versioned_json broken

I am currently trying to edit my player file so i unpacked it to json, however when going to pack it, i get this:

this happens even with no edits whatsoever, so is there a way to fix this? i noticed this about a week ago, before then the program worked fine. i also tested a player made on an unmodded version of the game, and it still did not work. i also tried a reinstall of the game, still did not work.
