Disclaimer: This was a just-for-fun project, and seeing as the last Ark gate gaps that don't have any race faces in them will probably be occupied by the secret and ancient people that built it, but yeah.
It should also be noted that Chuluun is purely a placeholder name, and I will probably change it if anything happens with this suggestion. Also, please don't get put of by the walls of text. I've ordered them so that you won't be flooded with too much at once.
Chuluun (pronounced Choo-lune) are a semi-nomadic tribe/clan-based scattered warrior culture of sentient mineral humanoids. Their culture is inspired by the Huns and ancient Mongols.

You have been drifting in space for some time now, but before, it was with others. You are the last one of your tribe. The others have all hardened and died. Now you are alone, and you can almost feel your insides solidifying.
You can barely remember anything of the old life, and you're not sure if what you can is just your imagination. You know that your people were once proud, strong, wealthy and powerful, with an empire stretching across the universe, and your borders constantly expanding. The other races thought they could inhabit your territory, saying things like 'You're not using it anyway', 'I thought you were nomadic' and 'Why are you pointing that at me, I'm not the one being so unreasona-'. Then, the tribes of your people began to fight and squabble among themselves. After a while, this developed into war. The empire broke down on itself, and the clans and tribes were scattered. Your last fellow tribesman told you that you'd have to find more of your people to rebuild your empire, but right now, you just want to find someone, anyone, to talk to. This endless void is making you see things, and these vermilion curtain dogs are starting to get on your nerves.

The Chuluun are a race of silicon-based humanoid life forms. They have exo-skeletons composed of soft, fast growing organic stone and insides and joints made up of molten rock that is heated by their heart, or "core", a chunk of radioactive metallic matter situated in their torso that is about the size of a human's stomach. The subtle differences in the heat of the magma cause it to move and shift, allowing for "muscle" movement, digestion and brain activity. It also causes their "flesh" and "skin" to move, break and collide, which makes their joints constantly stay open but also decreases their structural integrity. Because of this, they are only slightly sturdier than humans, but because the stone inside of them rapidly cools, any major breaks are repaired quickly, a bit like the clotting of blood and formation of scabs.

The colour seen through the joints and eye of a Chuluun isn't necessarily the colour of their magma, but rather of the fire that burns on it as the magma reacts to the various chemicals and types of metal and rock that make up a Chuluun's body. For instance, a large presence of copper will cause a green eye, while a lot of potassium chloride will cause purple or pink colouration.

Chuluun have small crystalline fibres that grow in stiff, hair-like formations on their heads in various colours. While thicker and less flexible than human or Apex hair, they can still style and shape it, although often they prefer to leave it to its own devices.

Fun fact- The reason for living Chuluun not growing moss is because of the unfavourable conditions of their bodies, which are constantly moving, shifting and changing temperature. Dead Chuluun, however, make great gardens.

Every Chuluun is born from a stalagmite or stalactite of the rock that makes up their body. These rock formations soon grow a Chuluun core, which at first heats, melts and then shapes the inside of the Chuluun body. After the body is fully formed, the baby Chuluun (which is barely smaller than an adult) "hatches" from the stone and sheds the rock from around it.

As Chuluun's age, their core's produce less heat as they slowly but surely decay and lose all heir potency. Their joints become stiff, their muscles harden, and their minds become slow and clouded. When they die of old age, a Chuluun will peacefully solidify into a rock statue that slowly becomes overgrown or turned into sand or gravel. However, because of the eagerness of Chuluun to get into fights with anyone who looks even remotely wealthy, few ever reach this stage.

    History
Ages ago, when the humans had just invented long-range space travel and were rushing to explore the universe, the Chuluun were a young species. There were many tribes scattered around their home planet, constantly at war. One day, the explorers came. At first thought to be gods, it was soon found out that they were flesh and blood (a LOT of blood) when a Chuluun tested their immortality with a very sharp stone. Not only were flesh and blood creatures completely new to them, but so was space travel. They soon stole the spaceships and began to traverse the stars. At first, only some tribes had access to this, and they soon established powerful territories, soaking up smaller groups as they grew more of their kind on new planets. They developed their own space faring vessels more suited to their needs, covering them in rock in order to launch surprise attacks from asteroid fields and because it looked cool. After a while, hordes of Chuluun were establishing new outposts across planets, and also taking over other settlements. It was during the height of Chuluun expansion and in a border war between a large tribe and the Apex that two brothers (Chuluun from the same rock) were grown. They were Alkali and Basanite Khan, and after long debates, a lot of fights, and even more drinking, they managed to take control of many tribes to establish the thriving Chuluun Empire. For years, the Chuluun were prosperous, and trade was booming (at least what they regarded as trade, which was essentially them raiding settlements or intimidating them into paying them). Then, Alkali, who felt he and his empire deserved better, killed Basanite and took control for himself. Unfortunately, Basanite had a large group of followers, who then killed Alkali and plunged all of the empire into war with itself. The surviving clans and tribes were scattered, and most of them travel aimlessly, slowly dying out and attempting to live off the land by stealing from everyone else who is currently on it. Some, however, are trying to make their way back to the planet where it all began to grow more of their kind and find a new leader in order to reestablish at least some of the glory of the all but dead Chuluun Empire.

    Culture
The Chuluun used to have a semi-nomadic warrior culture. They controlled a wide empire across the stars that encompassed parts of other territories and often led them into conflict, especially with Apex, Glitch and humans, but also against small Floran tribes, Avian warriors and even Hylotl guards. The Chuluun often didn't utterly destroy everyone, but instead chose to hang around, extorting moey and resources and showing who was boss with a few quick raids to destroy a few statues and steal anything that looked valuable.

The music of Chuluun is a major part of their culture. Not only is the sound of their stony war horns or rocking battle bass guitars one of the most fear inducing sounds any soldier has ever heard on the battlefield, it is also a great past time. Making music and singing hymns and epic tales around a bonfire is one of the only Chuluun recreational activities not associated with violence (the other of which is drinking, although this often leads to violence).

While being technologically advanced enough to not only get to but also invade and conquer planets, the Chuluun are by no means the smartest of races. For a while, their primary way of transportation was by latching onto large chunks of space rock with their primitive ships and then drifting until they were within range of a planet, at which point they'd turn their thrusters onto full power and crash into the surface.
They stopped trying to improve their technology when they thought it was enough for them to survive and have had no major breakthroughs. They do have powerful weapons technology though.

The weapons of Chuluun vary between tribes, and depending on which region of Chuluun space they come from. The closer they are to different civilisations, the more their equipment resembles that of those civilisations. For instance, Chuluun formerly living near Glitch would have straight swords, spears, and crossbows, and wear fur clothes and chainmail or platemail armour, while those living closer to Hylotl would have curved swords, trident spears, harpoon guns and intricately made armour.
Most of the Chuluun short swords and daggers are straight-bladed, while their broadswords resemble cavalry swords and are curved. The spears are simple and straightforward, but occasionally with barbed heads. Their axe heads are curved and thin and their hammers are usually spiked maces.
The armour of the Chuluun also varies in appearance. Lower levels of armour will simply be metal chest armour, a fur hat and some woolly pants, while higher levels are metal plates put together with stylish battlerobes (it's really just a big skirt) and metal helmets with fancy hair crests.

Apex- Chuluun like the Apex's technology and wealth, but dislike their government and their painful lab equipment. Apex think Chuluun are annoying and somewhat dangerous. There is mutual dislike.

Avians- Chuluun like the fact that Avians have a lot of gold. They easily make friends with airship pirates and Grounded, but any Kluex worshippers hate Chuluun for their heathen ways, and the Chuluun aren't too crazy about them either.

Floran- Chuluun have a grudging admiration for Floran, and Floran are unable to eat Chuluun, so they have an uneasy alliance of sorts, although killing each other is a pretty cool accomplishment for both sides.

Glitch- Chuluun don't really feel strongly about the Glitch, although the kinship between mineral humanoids and mutual respect means that individuals can become friends very fast. However, Chuluun think that non-outcast Glitch are somewhat stupid and not free enough.

Human- Chuluun don't hate humans, but they don't love them either. There doesn't seem to be anything special about them at all- not as wealthy in tech or money as Apex or Avians, not as powerful as warriors as Glitch or Floran. Humans feel similarly about Chuluun.

Hylotl- Chuluun like most things about Hylotl, ad they would probably be best friends if the Chuluun weren't so violent and money-hungry and if the Hylotl weren't so haughty and peaceful.

Novakid- Novakid puzzle Chuluun, but they think they're fine except when the Novakid decide to voice their opinions about Chuluun appearance (Novakid think rock people look ridiculous, and Chuluun are somewhat thin skinned).

Not much here yet. I'm not very good at either sprite drawing or actual artwork, so don't expect a lot.

I just did a big rework/edit of some of the stuff, and I wish I could do some proper art, but a) I am not all that good and b) I lack a drawing tablet and a good drawing program.

I like it. It could do well as a mod or NPC race.
