Bug/Issue Meteors Underground?

So since I tried building a base above ground and it got blown up instantly because I had forgotten about meteors, I tried building a base underground. But as I was clearing out the area and tried building my first home, 2 meteors hit the ground around me. I fixed this by quitting my game and rejoining but it worries me that this will happen in the future and I will either be afk or not notice it until one of my colony members has abandoned ship because there's a massive hole in his roof. I didn't get a screenshot but if it happens again I'll definitely post one.
