So I'm a planetbreaker. I make structures that encircle the whole thing, and then I put down spires to the core (and out into space) at regular intervals. However, I have a specific kind of gaming ocd where I want these to be spaced exactly. To that end, what I'd love to see is some form of survey tool. Maybe something that shoots a beam out, either all the way around a planet with regular distance markings (so long as there's no obstruction), or some regular distance...say 1000 blocks.

Is this even a thing that can be done within this engine? As it is, my best option is counting out a stack size of 1-block things (usually platforms), laying them down, marking the end, going back and taking them all down, then going back to my mark and starting the process again. It can get pretty tedious.

edit: or has someone else figured out an easier way of doing this?

Though the world may look circular its actually a cylinder.
So finding your position should not be an issue.

You should be able to make a survey tool reasonably easy through Lua.
Which spits out your X-Y coordinates.

that's one way to do it, i guess...i mean like a placeable item that emits a laser beam that terminates abruptly with a dot or vertical line or something 1000 blocks to the right (or left, i guess) of the emitter. assuming no obstruction.
