More involved Relations!

I feel like the whole 'relations' in starbound are far too boring and simple. And it seems weird that crew members suddenly are fine with following you to their death and ask no questions or give more quests. I'm not saying you need to introduce 'love' into the game, but making people seem a bit more 'real' would be nice.
I feel like crew members should give you quests sometimes to, a bit of a different kind than normal. For example, maybe they want a specific rare flora from a nearby planet or in a close system. Or maybe they want you to get revenge on pirates that invaded their village once so you need to attack their ship.
And maybe some sort of thing where people will do different things depending on your relations to them, plus things specifically depending on their race. For example, if you become friends enough with one of your tenants, they might act as a farmer or miner. In terms of the miner idea, every once in a while they will give you different ores that are possible to get on the planet. Maybe you could ask them to get specific ores (Rarer ones come in much smaller amounts). Farmers will 'grow' crops if you give them various seeds. The more seeds you give one farmer, the longer it will take in total but the more you get back at once.
Any items you get from 'worker' tenants could maybe be given to you the same time as you collect rent, or something similar in such a way that you can't just get infinite free materials off them. Maybe the longer you wait after rent time the more they would give you until it reaches some sort of maximum.
I may have put this in the wrong location but I wasn't sure where else this would go, and sorry for it being so long, i just wanted to add some specifics too.

I think putting it in the Mechanic suggestions would have been more logical

    Interesting idea nonetheless tho ^^

Ah, I was looking for something labeled more like 'future ideas' or something similar. I guess I know for next time if that is indeed accurate which is very possible. But I don't strictly care for it to become too involved, but I'd really like this. If the creator decides to go all the way into including romance then I'm fine with that, in many video games that have multiple species and some sort of 'love' system I prefer other species. Cuz I ain't a racist person!

    Infinities
People and characters in this game eat every day, an infinite demand for food. Tenants pay rent every so often, an infinite supply of pixels. And so it is with rain and well water, lumber from trees, and all the resources that can be made from crops, seeds and animal produce. Mine-able resources are only slightly different in that they require visiting new locations of a virtually endless space to harvest more of them.

All these things can be measured in rates of product/time. The need for food is easy to see as a constant amount of nutrients/time, and so the ideal solution is to set up a farm that provides food at the same rate of nutrients/time.

A little more tricky is to examine the player's need for iron. The necessary minimum flow of iron/day to continue playing Starbound changes over the lifespan of a character, and so hiring more or less tenants that can each contribute some width to that supply stream would make a useful addition.

I didn't quite mean to go that far, the need to supply even a mini-colony would take much longer then. I prefer to just build things a lot and make things look pretty/weird and but people in there. I like to add farms every once in a while for me to earn bits of money here and there but needing to supply tenants would decrease the usefulness. I like the whole tenant system and my ideas, but I'd rather not have starbound turn into a big colony management sim. That's not why I play starbound, plenty of other games do that.

I would definetly like the "Colony Sim" idea if you don't need to be pendent to every colony every second. Just give me a NPC that do farm/mining/tax colector things and I'm more than happy! ^^

I like the tax collector colonist idea!
Maybe he would stash it in any storage in his home, and a storage unit would be part of the prerequisites of a home that summons a tax collector.

This is something we MUST have... Right now... At 1.4 if possible...

This seems more fit for a DLC to me rather than an update, since it so drastically changes how you must go about making a colony. But some sort of tax collector would certainly work too. I think I'd love these changes for the most part, but I imagine this as an update could end

Yeah, I'm referring to the Tax Collector as a MUST HAVE. Come on, we don't have time to go through all the colony, and when we do go from one side to the other, the first one needs to pay again! I just can't manage even medium colonies...

Would be interesting, right now all the crew do is give me buffs and block my workstations. Heck, this suggestion could open up the window for lots of hooks, like upgrading crewmember's equipment for each Tier of 'loyalty missions' completed, so to speak.

I am all for being able to build the colonies buildings and whatever myself, but it would be sweet if those colonies grew a bit on their own organically a bit as well no? Complete enough of these relations quests, maybe the farmer expands the farm on their own, or if he asks you for seeds, every once in a while the farm has those planted, or maybe that average joe married the average jane next door and now they want/make a bigger house. Would be a bit more fluid of an outcome than, "Hey boss, pass this love letter to this person 3 doors down. Oh they said yes? I'm so happy, can I join your crew and never see them again?"

For me it is more like give a secret note to the person literally right next to me half of the time, thus making missions/quests a little more interesting would be great. And also making escort quest a bit easier because it is super hard to keep those morons alive sometimes, it isn't too bad for myself, but they should have at least SOME sort of personal protection!
