Bug/Issue Nearly anywhere I try to plant a tree is an "invalid position"

I'm not entirely sure what info I should be putting in here past a description of the issue, so let me know if there's anything I should potentially add.

When planting acorns, pine cones and maple seeds (fruit trees are fine) I get an "invalid position," prompt in the left-hand corner. I've tried placing them in a number of places, including areas I know once had a tree or that I'd successfully planted in a past save file and I nearly always get those prompts. I've had rare few, if any, exceptions, and spots that might at some point not have the prompt, will if I re-plant the seed.

For the sake of testing, I've left a few seeds planted anyway in hopes that they will grow anyway, but I feel like it'll be a while before I can tell if it makes a difference
