Peacekeeper missions softlock in multiplayer

I was playing with my friend in their game and we were doing the first peacekeeper mission with captain Ignoble when we accidentally softlocked it.
I was the only one with the mission active and we were looking for the first clues:
Console mentioned his coordinates
Handprint also served as a valid clue
A piece of paper serving as a clue

My friend was the one that found the piece of paper which was the last clue we found. My friend used the paper and... nothing happened.
The mission status still said search the area for clues and the planet mentioned by the console did not have any mission markers or mission structures.

Is there a fix for this? I abandoned the quest for now but it's the first time my friend is playing the game and I would like it to work consistently.
