Hello. I don't really ever respond to anything, but I had an idea of why Penny may like Sandfish but hate rabbit foot. I made a short dialogue between the player and the character. Please let me know what you think below!

    Penny and Sandfish

    “Hey Penny!”

    “Oh, hey [Your_Name].”

    “I got this for you!”

“I love this item! Thank you.”

“Yea, sure. It’s no problem. But…why the heck do you like this…sandfish?”

“Oh. That? It’s a long story. I don’t know if you have time.”

    “I do. Talk to me.”

“Well, ok. Sure. When I was little, my dad used to go fishing. We would go walk or drive to far off places just to catch fish. My dad said that the hardest fish to catch was the sandfish, and that when I was old enough, he would take me to the desert. I was nine. We drove to the desert at sunset and stopped by a pond. It was hot, but we had plenty of cold water. We laughed, talked. We talked about my favorite books and what I wanted to do when I grew up. I told him that I wanted to be a teacher.”

    “That sounds nice!”

“It was nice. Although we keep getting trash, we laugh and play with it, and tossed it. My dad caught several sandfish and released them, saying that I’ll eventually get one….And I did. It was great. My dad was so proud of me. And I was so happy.”

But….. then my dad heard a noise. He told me to go hide, so I hid behind a coconut tree as he investigated. He went into a cave close to the pond. Hours passed, and it got dark. I got scared and went to find him. I found him surrounded at the end of the cavern, near a locked door, swarmed by serpents and dead rabbits. I guess that’s why I’m the only one that hates rabbit’s foot…

The police found me, and escorted me back home. Ever since then, my mom, Pam…she started drinking to forget the memory. She yells a lot, and tries to forget the past. I don’t think she ever can, though. I know I can’t.”

“I…I’m so sorry. I had no idea. I didn’t mean to bring any memories that will hurt you.”

“No, it’s okay. Besides, I’m glad I finally have a friend to tell my dark story, too. I find it hard to really tell anyone about that, in the past. You’re the only one who can help me cope with it. I mean, I love sandfish. Thank you. Even if I can’t keep it for too long, it reminds me, for a brief time, about the fun I had with my dad when I was a kid.”

    “You are very, very welcome.”

“Hey. Do you want to know my favorite book?”

    “Sure!”

“It’s another story, if you don’t mind.”

    “I have time.”

“Well, sure, ok. Once upon a time….”
