Playing single player from online, base is gone?

Me and my friend started playing starbound together and he was hosting however, when I try to play single player with out him my whole base was gone. I still had the quest from a colony resident but he wasnt there. My bookmarks and teleport flag is also gone. What happen? Can I not play single player? will my base and stuff be there when my friend host the match?

 

your base is gone because your base is in his world, not yours. if you want your base back, you will either have to play with him, or ask him for the universe files he has
