Wouldn't measuring their weight in carats make the numbers really large, sciense they're human sized I mean?
Well, true that. However if you were to give it in kilos as in kilograms only kilocarats it would still be a few times larger than the average human, and I also believe that gem has a higher density then human.
While I do like the Gemétoile's style, culture, and spritework, I personally find the Pyrites, which are basically swashbuckling mineral-pirates, as a more interesting race to play as, due to a more believeable backstory (that's free of interference from other playable races) and motive for spacefaring. Also, whereas playable Gemétoiles would basically be exiles who have harmed others (regardless of intentions), playable Pyrites would most likely be adventure-seekers (given that they're based on pirates). Perhaps both races could be combined together, with the Pyrites' backstory and sense of adventure, along with the Gemétoile's society, culture, and spritework? Such a race would not only resemble the Western world during the Renaissance, but would also act like one, with spacefaring mineral-based conquistadores, pirates, explorers, and affluent people.
I quite enjoy the style and work you've put into this suggestion. It is certainly a level above other suggestions that have been around. The backstory is inspired, but I'm not sure how well it would fit amidst the other races. I do hope you keep up the good work and that this suggestion is taken seriously.
I agree partly with what you say, mby the pirate part of the gemetoile could be the players. That would be an interesting twist...
No, and to be honest this seems more like you are just advertizing that race here. If you haven't noticed all races you play as the outcast. Not having one doesn't even make sense considering all official races have them. I don't want to combine them with anything, they are how they are. If you cant appreciate that, then you can enjoy that other race to your hearts content. Mineral pirates are spiffy but the gems are elegant and that is how I like them.
Actually, I was reviewing both the Gemétoile and the Pyrites at about the same time, and I made the same proposal in the Pyrites thread in that both races ought to be combined. As part of my review and proposal, I decided to provide links to the Gemétoile in the thread about the Pyrites, and vice-versa, to allow others to quickly jump to the other race's thread for research. While reviewing both the Gemétoile and the Pyrites, I actually did take into account what would motivate the player to flee their homeworld, and I personally found the Pyrites to be more interesting as a playable race, with a more believeable motive for traveling away from their homeworld. However, as far as aesthetics and culture go, the Gemétoile have the Pyrites beat.
They are separate races though, and imo races shouldn't be mixed like that. It's an interesting idea havin the rouge ones as pirates, but I think all races will have space pirates in them (since obviously, pirates are awesome) and therefore pirates should not be exclusive or special for the gemetoile.
This race just looks awesome, the crystaline look of the bodies, and the medieval/Renaissance theme of the culture looks very cool.
Same here, though I still maintain my opinion that the Gemetoilé could use some improvements in terms of backstory and motive for playing as one. Earlier, I suggested (and still suggest) that the Gemetoilé cross-pollinate with the Pyrites (and/or another race) to help make up for their shortcomings (much like how the Novakids cross-pollinated with the Anodynes when they were accepted as a playable race). The Gemetoilé have a lot of potential as a playable race, and I want to help encourage their growth as a suggestion.
And earlier I stated I don't want that to happen. Simple as that, even if the races were added and the devs wanted to cross pollinate I would not allow it. I already am very on the fence about the idea of the devs actually adding them due to me loosing creative control. (As well as Ayumi and Zooey) You don't like their backstory and your entitled not to, its by no means DONE mine you but you can dislike it all you want. TL;DR: I do not want to combine them with any other race no matter how much people say they want me to. I created their race, friends helped me flesh it out and design clothing for them, but ultimately I get the final say in things like this and I am 7,381,064,259% against it. The Pyrites are a fine race and I do like them. Call me hard headed, selfish, and whatever else you want but I want my idea to shine on its own.
My plan has always been to mod them in. I didn't make them with the idea of them being [OFFICIALLY] added as a race. I started working on the idea of their race LONG before the Novakid was even a thing. (Back them I was just gonna call them Star Stones Lul)
