Or, you take the bus to the desert and find that Oasis is shut today because Sandy just felt like taking the day off to visit Emily. No way to know unless you happen to see Sandy hanging around doing whatever Emily is doing Just a low chance random RNG event, say 3.5% to make it on average one day per season. Decided before save, obviously so that you can't just reload the day. Upside is that it might make it a bit easier befriending Sandy earlier if you happen to come across her before you fix the bus.
