Bug/Issue Saplings & Crash

Hey everyone!

First let's start by saying this game is beyond awesome. I'm loving every minute (except this last 10 or so).

I have the GOG version of Stardew Valley with smapi for mods. Summer 13 and bought an apple sapling. I went to plant it with a 3 square free empty space around it. Every time I tried to plant, the sound effect for harvesting a plant would play, but the sapling won't plant. I thought maybe one of the mods I was using might be angering it so I reloaded the day without the mods and tried to plant and the game crashes instead.

Weird.

Just in case, here are the mods I'm using:

Calendar Anywhere
Gift Taste Helper
Loved Labels
NPC Map Locations
Pond With Bridge
Simple Crop Label
SMPAI Chest Label System
SMAPI Better Sprinklers

Any ideas?

Edit* - So I noticed that the API Console has this line that appears everytime I try to plant a sapling "Failed to call base method: UpdateControlInput" so I'll just add that I'm using SMAPI 0.40.0 Alpha
