You will need gather some ores/materials to make few robots and form a crew from them. Then if your hands are full you can send them on a mission to find materials or attack planet full of enemies. Ofc if its possible you can train these robots to carry more, deal more damage or move quicker. Its just a basic description because we still don't know all the details.
I like this idea, i would suggest something more to this. Having things such as probability of succes depending on the personel(experience they have with this type of mission), equipment(how powerfull is against the enemy) and other outside factos(weather) More specific info. Personel: Each individual might have skills and/or traits that they came with(migrated, hired or trained) they might be more usefull towards one field. ex a person might be average at mining but they might be excellent at creature capturing. Equipment: There might be many forms of wepons, armor and technology that can make the mission easier. ex lasers might not be a good idea to fight against an entity made out of energy but are great against tentacle monsters. Outside factors: Great example being weather changes that can effect the mission. ex on given days or months a specific planet might go through constant weather changes. this is just a small part of what i think would be great to add to your suggestion.
Yeh, this idea sounds good. A little like the SW: TOR system. But maybe make them a very UP at first and expensive to make to stop people just building tons and doing little else.
We can either increase time for gathering/killing or make them get a lot less from other planets. It might take them 1 whole hour or 10 hours..... depending on difficulty.
i go with that + the fact that if you constantly raid a planet for the same materials and/or minerals it can have catastrophic side effects that lead to ripple effects. ex cutting trees will make it so that the planet produces less fruits which then makes it so it decreases the max ammount of animals that feed off that fruit which then again decreases the max ammount of animals that feed off the animals that feed on fruits. conplex but interesting in my point of view.
Maybe some cooldown before using your crew again? Or Making planet produce less materials untill you arrive and water it or something I hope there will be some kind of farming involved.
i think the cooldown is a good idea but lets change it into something more logical. *Crewmen who just came back are too tired to be sent again, *Not enough fuel for another mission which involves space travel *Ship might have been damaged and you have to wait until repair(you can still send them out on the damage ship but it can cause big risks such as longer mission time, utility such as tank to store animals might need to be cleaned or enforced to fit the envirement you are going to , crewmen who refuse to go on damaged ship, ect ect). Edit: forgot to add a bit of more resonable information.
I don't know how I feel about this, while I do understand that getting everything by yourself gets old pretty fast I feel like sending crews would mess with the idea of a game centered around exploration. However, to make this idea more appealing (to me) they could (if they implement this) make it so you discover ores yourself and then set work spots for your crew to mine. That would allow you to explore the caves and stuff like that yourself while performing no work. I have also got some doubts about how it would work when you travel between seeds.
After you discover a planet and make small colony there or build "Oil Rig" (Lets assume that its a possibility) you can send your crew to get all the resources you need.... Better?
why make robots do our work? its reducing the play time of the game and not really adding anything to the gameplay
I agree with Dr. Scoobie to some extent. They shouldn't be able to do anything major, maybe they just help out, kill a few, mine a little. They shouldn't be able to do very much though.
