I was a fairly active editor for another wiki awhile ago and recently decided to get back into wiki editing, so I made an account on Starbounder yesterday. I have a few suggestions about the site that I want to bring up, primarily to make the wiki more user-friendly. Registered users should be able to edit (most) templates. It's currently difficult to format some pages without the ability to edit templates and can be very confusing to some users who find out that they can create new templates but not edit them afterwards. I doubt mass vandalism will be a huge issue as long as it's kept track of. Similarly, to keep track of possible vandalism, a link to Recent Changes should be added on the top bar or another convenient place on every page (not just the front page). There should also be a visible prompt to create new pages (maybe above the Upload Image button?) as the current way of doing so is not very obvious. There doesn't appear to be any talk pages for articles. These can be very useful to discuss improvements or issues about pages. User talk pages seem to exist, but they're well hidden. They should be made clearer as an option to talk to others, as I'm sure many people would prefer to use user talk pages instead of the existing messaging system. Link color is somewhat unconventional. Visited pages have red links, while links to pages that don't exist do not have a special color. Links to nonexistent pages being red (or a clearly different color to differentiate from other links) is a fairly standard convention for most wikis I've been to.
This is some great feedback. I'm going to go down this list tomorrow, see what I can integrate! Welcome to the wiki effort!!
Thanks, I'm just trying to help make the wiki more accessible to people. Also, a nitpicky stylistic thing is that category names should be in plural. Most categorization seems to be automatically done by templates, so changing them should probably not break too many things, though overall I don't think category names are a huge priority as of now.
