Pretty much lol. If the Space Whale can do it, so can other solar users. xD I'll be posting a size reference when I finish the sprites. The explosions on the other hand, aren't too big but still large enough to cause some damage within a certain radius. Ahaha, these guys actually come from another realm actually. A land of fire, nobility, strict codes of conduct, and warfare. But, I'm getting ahead of myself. xD As much as I've tried, I couldn't get the color palette I've chosen to not resemble Volvagia's. Must be that orange and yellow, along with that dragon-esque body. ^^; About a couple hours, give or take.
The art is Starbound-ish and the idea itself is interesting and still simple enough. Fire breathing lizards that are more dangerous in the daylight and hide in lava at night. It's the opposite of many monsters, I bet, which sounds great! I like the name as well. Nice little pun.

Step 1. Orbital strike the Sun. Step 2. Watch the planet freeze. Step 3. Anhiliate all solamanders with ease.
Nice. I like it. Looks great for volcanic and desert planets. Oh, an idea! Red solamaders on volcanic and yellow - on desert!
In Patapon 3 there were similar salamanders who exploded when when dieing, I lost many time because of them! Wonderfull creature! Thanks to it I discovered Starbound so I hope it will be put in the game!
I sketch them out by hand first, then finish drawing them in Photoshop and SAI. Ah, what a coincidence lol. xD Thanks!
Just a suggestion but what about adding the drops of your creatures and the equipment you can make thanks to them?
