Pretty much a week left till the deadline, can't wait to read everyone's stories!
Less than week, actually. 'bout 4 days, so it's too late soon...
A funny thing I've noticed all in the stories is that they have certain very similar themes or events taking place. The moods vary, but there is always something similar between a few of them. I guess it's just the generic scifi/Starbound tropes in action. Still weird to see the entries having similar elements to them, though.
Missed this totally blame the holidays
Yes, completely okay. Submit away!
OKAY! PROBLEM IS THAT I HAVEN'T STARTED YET.
4000 WORDS IS IT?
500-2000 words. That will only take a day or so. Which planet that day is on is up to you.
Haha, I didn't know it was you until I saw your username under that profile picture...
I might not be around to post the works/start the poll on Friday. So there is that. I'll try to do that as soon as I can, though.
500-2000 WAS THE CORRECT BUT REMEMBER THATS JUST A RECOMMENDATION
Whaaat, you got confused by my avatar change? :p
but rly that's a success in my books
Okay.... A few hours left? Eh, no problem!
I realized what day it was and finished my submission.
Tomorrow is the big day! Well, for those submitting their works today, today is the big day because this is the last chance to do so.
I'll make a post when the contest is officially over. I'll post the entries I the thread and set up the poll. I also have a neat idea to get some readers. which may be terrible and not work but whatever
That's the spirit.
Though there are several hours left. I didn't really specify a timezone so it could be interpreted that there is +12 hours time still left.
I already have my reading glasses, tea and armchair prepared (and the trusty dictionary, just in case)
Should I be afraid?
Really wish I'd known about this earlier; Didn't really get any extraordinary ideas
Don't worry about it. I knew before the contest even started and mine sucks.
We'll, rather be two in hell than alone in heaven, amirite?
Is voting for yourself allowed? Are contestants allowed voting at all? Halp plox!
The stories and the poll are up now. Maybe a little late but fashionably late I hope.
It was really interesting to see the stories beforehand. A load of science, some death here and there, a ton of destruction, and not a single straightforwardly "happy" ending. Woo-hoo.
Interestingly, there was one crossover and only one holiday themed-entry. Those was surprising to see.
All writers are now free to post their works elsewhere. To the fanfiction subforum, for example.
Contestants are free to vote their own works. After all, if everyone votes their own work it doesn't change a thing because everyone gets one vote.
I think that the theme of the contest should be retroactively changed to "All of the authors had the winter blues and didn't feel like happy endings."
I just want to tip my hat to all writers - really impressive entries (and now I really need to read more of that fanfic stuff out there).
That psycopath's peace story just absolutely SINGS to me! Excellent work @Lavranzo! I tip my hat in your name!
Thanks a lot, it means the world to me! I'd reckon you'd like the "VEP Logs"-entry of Tatterdemalion as well, I know I did. It also has kinda the same vibe, so if youre up for some reading, do check it out
