Bug/Issue Stardew Valley Computer Conflict?

Stardew Valley is listed on steam as uninstalled, but it (and recent smapi) are definitely installed and working. I'm afraid to "install" again for fear that all of my .xnb mods will be wiped, or possibly my game data. What exactly should I do here? I really want to play all of the new content , but I also dont want to have to redo all my mods.

 

Hi @Spookacola. Try this:

1. Launch the game with SMAPI.
2. The SMAPI console that opens with the game will show where your game is installed:
   
3. Open that folder.
4. Make a zip of your Content and Mods folders, and move it to a safe place (like your desktop).
5. Delete the Stardew Valley folder.
6. Reinstall the game through Steam.
7. Reinstall SMAPI.
   
8. Open your new game folder.
9. Copy your SMAPI mods and content files back into this new folder.

Some words of caution:

• Once you save in Stardew Valley 1.3, you can't bring that save back to 1.2. I suggest backing up your save files.
• Many mods aren't compatible yet (you can check this compatibility list).
• Be careful with XNB mods in 1.3. Replace them with Content Patcher packs if possible, or check them against this list of XNB files changed in 1.3; if the file didn't change, the XNB mod should still work fine.
