Mob The Bubblins! A passive, tamable mob!

Meet the Bubblin! ​

This little cutie is a passive, almost friendly mob, but hazardous in swarms. They do not "attack" the player, per-se, but what they do attempt to do is to approach the player underwater, simply to greet them, running into the player. If they touch the player, they burst, harming the player for a small amount of damage, leaving behind their Eyes. The Bubblin's eyes make the Bubblin, and if you manage to place the eyes in a liquid, they will form another Bubblin. The new Bubblin will follow the player, and depending on the liquid, help in fighting. For example, a Bubblin made out of lava or acid can burst on an enemy for greater damage, and the Eyes can be retrieved.

Drops: Bubblin's Eyes, used in creating another Bubblin

Environment: Oceans, but can be adapted to any other liquid.

Movement: Floats underwater and above water once tamed.

Attacks: A single bubblin will cause 5 damage once they pop on a player.

INTRODUCING: THE GIGA BUBBLIN

This massive monstrosity is the result of multiple Bubblin forming together. Once burst, it would launch the player a great distance, damaging them moderately.

If you ask me, you shouldn't offer any stats, because we aren't certain how those stats will correlate in-game. We have nothing to go by yet.
Still, sounds like fun. A bubble in the ocean that isn't just a bubble, but actually alive.

 

It just looks like these guys who suck your head, but passive and cute

And they can be acid bubbles. That's fine too.
But sentient molten rock? (edit) Totally not trying to diss you, just wondering.

 

The molten rock is liquid enough for the eyes to form a bubble. It's subject to massive change

It would have practical applications beyond combat. They could act like a Ball of light, although extremely dim light.

Sweet job man! the sprites seem kinda... bland to be honest, they don't have the same art style as Starbound. If you want I could make a couple of transparent ones for you?

On the actual suggestion, awesome. Hopefully many different liquids will be present, I'd love to have a black oil one. So basically they're passive and friendly, do they pop if they touch wall too?

 

I would love for someone with actual talent to make some sprites, since I have no talent whatsoever.

 

I made the sprites for Neptz' suggestion too!
To be fair your sprites aren't bad in the least. It's just the matter of matching styles.

I'm not sure how a bubble can "burst" underwater, but ignoring that, let's see how this suggestion goes.
